So I realize I haven't posted something in quite some time. I've thought about it but then I didn't think I had anything worth writing. I have a cool new development now that happened that I'd like to share :)
I've been shown, yet again the amazing way that God provides for us when we place our trust solely upon him. This summer's been rough for me in the job department. I've applied places but haven't had any luck. I did get some random work in for an "aunt" of mine (honorary family member) and was paid very well for the time I worked for her. So I was doing good.
But then my car, the car I just bought two months ago, broke down on me while I was on my way to Duluth to visit a friend who was around for the day. Thankfully my car broke down about two miles from home on a sunny day and my dad was home rather than in the middle of the night in downtown Duluth in the pouring rain while my dad was on an ambulance run lol.
Well my dad helped me get my car towed home and we figured out what was wrong with it and we got it fixed the next day. The only downside was that I had to spend most of the rest of the money I had on the part to fix it. Since then things have been very tight budget-wise.
I went to Church on Sunday at Rock Hill, and when I got there, I thought about it. I had $15 dollars in my car, pretty much all I had to my name. I knew I had to have $10 in gas to get home so I set that aside. Then I had to decide what to do with that last $5. At that point I just said "you know what God, I'm giving this to you in faith that you will provide. If I need more, you'll provide the way".
Now this last year God has proven to me time and time again of his provision. The first time was right before we registered for classes for the spring semester at Scholastica. I had to pay off the rest of my bill before I could register, and if I didn't pay by the next day, I wouldn't get into the classes I needed because I wouldn't be allowed to register.
Well I decided, after I'd been worrying to find out about a scholarship I had desperately needed for over a month, that If i needed it God would provide one way or another...to let him worry about it and not me, because he provides. Later that day I found out I got a $4000 scholarship that paid off what I owed and then eliminated one of my loans and reduced my other ones.
The second time God proved his provision to me this last year was when I was going to Urbana, a global missions conference in St.Louis Missouri through InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. It was going to cost me around $700 to go to it with registration fees and travel/food/housing for the week over Christmas break. Well I didn't have that kind of money. But I knew if God wanted me there, he would provide. So I put down the $100 down-payment on the registration fee, not having any idea where i was going to get the rest of the money and almost over-drafting my checking account in the process. Less than 5 days later God had provided me with all I needed and extra! How amazing is He!
The third time was not of money, but transportation. We were getting all ready for the IV leadership conference , Pursuit, in Keystone SD and we were arranging rides with people from the UMD chapter. All together we had 6 people but only enough room for 5. We tried various things but it was looking hopeless...as if someone would have to not go...but we placed our trust in God and I was talking to someone about options and I remember saying, If God wants us there, he will provide. A few minutes later we had the number of someone who was leaving from a town close to where we would be leaving and he had extra room. We all had a way there. God provided yet again!
Back to my original story. So I had decided to give my last $5 in the offering, placing my trust in God to provide. Coincidentally, that week the pastor decided to talk about offering that night. Anyway, later that night, as I got to visit my beautiful new God son

and his mom, one of my oldest friends I've had since kindergarten, I got a call from my neighbor asking me to baby sit.
I smiled and thought , God, you really do provide.
Well as I was babysitting the next day my friend, who works in the ResLife department of my college, called me up and said that they had a job opening for two people and that me and my other friend could have. It's full time for two weeks before school starts and they described it as being "a guardian angel". she said we get to cook for the RA's and ARMs ( academic role models) and run errands for them and be the people behind the scenes for them.
I am sooo excited to start, plus I get to move in super early, which means I'll be in Duluth, I'll be moved in before the freshman for the New Student outreach with InterVarsity, and I won't have to drive everyday! God provides so immensely! it's amazing!
So Less than 24 hours after I decided to trust God with it by giving him practically my last $5, I had 2 job opportunities, one to pay for gas to Duluth, and one full time that starts this Friday.
Oh and one of my neighbors just called me and asked me to feed their horse and water their plants while they are away on vacation, so there's another job. So make it three opportunities that he has provided!
Praise God for his Goodness and thank him for his real interaction in our lives and how he responds in our times of need! :D
Katy, this is fabulous. God is SO good. He DOES provide for His children and reading this was an instant perk up for my afternoon at work. Praise God Praise God Praise God!
ReplyDeleteWow Katy, thanks for posting that. God really does provide doesn't he. Isn't it cool too that our offering that night was larger than it has ever been before (and that it was taken before I even talked about the need). God truly is good.
